We were really pleased to welcome top local National Hunt jockey James Bowen, Great British Racing, and most importantly retired racehorse ‘Marv’ and his little friend ‘Gladys Bliss’ from Greatwood, near Marlborough, to school on Tuesday10 September
as part of #NationalRacehorseWeek.
James spoke about his career as a jockey and the children had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and even try on some of his racing silks. They were able to stroke Marv and feed him polos, and learn all about these huge athletes.
Did you know that during his racing career, Marv could run at speeds of up to 40mph, jumping fences of over 130cm, for 4 miles?
