A Memorable Visit to The Museum of the Great Western Railway

Chula Bishop

Elm and Ash classes recently took a combined trip to STEAM - The Museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon.

Our pupils learned about the huge scale of train manufacturing at this location (2 locomotives per week, plus railway carriages), and saw the difficult conditions under which the men worked.

They also got the opportunity to wear some of the period clothes - including a hat similar to that belonging to Isambard Kingdom Brunel, as well as getting to lift some of the huge tools used to make trains.
