Exploring the Wonders of Nature: Maple Class visit Oxford University Museum of Natural History

Chula Bishop

On Wednesday 8th January Maple Class began the New Year with a visit to Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

Founded in 1860 as the centre for scientific study at the University of Oxford, the Museum of Natural History holds the University’s internationally significant collections of geological and zoological specimens. Among its most famous features are the Oxfordshire dinosaurs, the only soft tissue remains of a dodo, and the swifts in the tower.

It was a brilliant trip and our pupils saw just some of the 7 million objects that the museum houses! They also had the opportunity to get up close and touch various fossils and other exhibits. One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the incredible dinosaurs. They were ginormous!
