On Friday 13th December, Oaklands School in Hungerford gathered for a heartwarming Christmas Celebration at the Herongate Club.
The auditorium was transformed into a magical festive space, featuring a beautifully crafted stable with a star and manger, created with help from pupils in Elm Class, and Santa’s grotto, where Santa himself made a special appearance.
The Celebration included musical performances from Oaklands team members Ellie-May Wooldridge, who sang, and Eleanor Prout, who played the harp. Reverend Mike Saunders, Vicar of St Lawrence’s Church in Hungerford, delivered a heartfelt reading about the birth of Christ and the origins of Santa Claus. Pupils Josh from Elm Class and Isaiah and Leigha from Ash Class proudly shared their readings with the audience of fellow pupils, family members, and carers. A special video was also shown featuring Elm pupil Sophie playing ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ on the harp.
The event concluded with joyful dancing and gift-giving, as Santa and his mischievous elf, played by Oaklands team member and Hungerford Town Football Club Team Captain, Rhys Tyler, delighted the children with presents for each class.
Executive Headteacher, Georgios Chatzakis, said: “I am incredibly proud of all our pupils, who worked so hard to create the stunning decorations and perform in front of such a large audience. It was wonderful to see so many family members and carers joining us, making the event even more meaningful. Delivering Santa’s festive message about kindness and joy to such a warm and supportive community was a truly memorable experience. I would also like to thank our dedicated staff, whose support and hard work behind the scenes helped make the celebration such a success.”
